Tube and Clamp Scaffolding

Tube and clamp scaffolding is a very adaptable scaffolding system that can be configured to access almost anything. It is most often used in industrial settings where the scaffolding needs to be configured around machinery, stacks, tanks, around stairs, etc. It is also useful around buildings with odd shapes, around cantilevers, and in applications where frame scaffolding and other types of scaffolding cannot provide adequate access.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Tube and Clamp Scaffolding

Tube and clamp scaffolding is easy to assemble and only requires a few core components such as tubes, with fittings on the ends, ranging from 4’ to 16’ in length, various types of clamps, and base plates. Tubes can lock together in a liner direction using the fittings. Vertical tubes are connected to horizontal tubes via right-angle clamps. Diagonal tubes connect to the vertical and horizontal tubes via swivel clamps to and are used to further strengthen the scaffolding platform. The horizontal tubes and vertical tubes may be adjusted to any distance apart. While the tube and clamp system may be the most versatile of all scaffolding, it is also one of the most labor-intensive types of scaffolding to assemble and requires a skilled crew of scaffold builders. With other types of scaffolding, such as frame scaffolding, the right-angle connections are welded together, and the diagonal sections are preassembled in the form of cross braces and are attached to the frames by snapping them to specially designed locking pins on the scaffolding frames.

Southwests scaffolding sells high-quality tube and clamp scaffolding made with Q235 galvanized steel that will support the weight you need it to support and will withstand the elements, especially in applications close to the ocean.
